vivo V23 Pro Design review Part-2

The vivo V23 Pro is an plainly swish device. vivo has been laying on enough thin designs recently. At7.4 mm, the V23 Pro is enough thin, plus the twisted display and aft panel and thin middle frame make the phone look and feel thinner still.

It’s worth noting that due to its aggressively-twisted sides and fairly smooth frame, with no strong edges or chamfers, the V23 Pro does not exactly sit confidently in the hand. In fact, it’s relatively slippery. The included transparent TPU case addresses these handling straits effectively, but you do have to give up on the particular sense of the aft panel. The panel is covered with Fluorite AG Glass and has a kind of soft yet flaxen sense, evocative of the Oppo Reno6 Pro 5G Dimensity model’s hinder panel. The vivo totem is also kind of embossed, which is a nifty little detail.

While the finish on the backside is likely to be centralizing in terms of sense, the fact that it does not get slithery or else dirty fluently should be widely appreciated.

Of course, we can not bandy the reverse of the vivo V23 Pro without talking about its” party trick”-the UV reactive makeup job. It should be noted that just the hand Sunshine Gold color is UV reactive. That is the unit we got for review, too. The other Stardust Black variant still has the flaxen sense but doesn’t change colors, making it a bit more understated overall. Plus, there’s a small detail to potentially consider-the camera islet on the Stardust Black is, for some reason, not treated with the same UV-reactive makeup as the rest of the reverse and doesn’t change color, which can look a bit weird at times.

Speaking of weird, the color change itself can fall under that order. The” native”Sunshine Gold color is only really golden under further violent UV-free lighting. In a faint room with simply regular light rolling in from a window (which channels out UV), the shading is a ton” duller”and not as lively, similar to a pale slate or tableware, with some greenish and blueish tones coming through, depending on how the light hits it. It’s a enough complex blend of tinges, and that’s also the case in UV light after the color has changed to what’s substantially blue, but with some green and unheroic showing through on occasion and depending on the angle. It’s kind of meant to play with your mind and does that really well.

The color change itself can take anywhere from under a nanosecond to a many twinkles, both going to and from the UV blue state depending on how important UV light is present. You can frequently end up with amid-way change in some surroundings, like on a cloudy day and noway get all the way to the proper” blue” color.

Naturally, you can play around with the process quite a bit simply by covering corridor of the aft panel as it changes. Unless you’re in a controlled terrain, however, do not go on any temporary”customization” sticking around constantly, like a stencil of a totem or commodity. And also, be prepared to look at a not- so-pleasing arbitrary”artsy” design for a while after holding your Mobile phone as you walk into or down from the sun.

As long as we’re participating arbitrary studies on the UV-reactive makeup, we’ve to wonder how well the effect will hold up in time and whether multiple change cycles or dragged UV exposure might make a difference to the life of the effect one way or another. All effects considered, however, it’s a really cool party trick that indeed works fairly well through the included TPU case, which is neat. And if you aren’t into it at each, you can always just poke a solid case on the V23 Pro and forget it was ever a thing.

Circling to the front of the V23 Pro for just a bit, the design is relatively” ultramodern”, maybe indeed going a bit overboard, particularly due to the aggressive curve of the display. To be fair, however, the display itself does not extend all the way into the curve, and there are some fairly-wide bezels on all sides. Nothing distracting or out- putting, but still noticeably big.

The same enough much goes for the selfie notch. Indeed though it houses two snappers, vivo has managed to keep its size relatively reasonable and blend it in well with the rest of the design.

Materials and build quality

As far as development, vivo V23 Pro uses a standard”sandwich” arrangement, with a center edge crushed between a glass back board and a bent showcase on the front. It feels sturdy and well made, with virtually no flex. Tilting the scale at 171 grams, it’s actually a bit light for its size.

We suppose that the small size of the middle frame on the V23 Pro contributes at least a bit to its overall lightness. That and the fact that stylish we managed to tell, it’s actually not essence, but rather a polycarbonate. Vivo does not feel to admit this outright in its sanctioned specs but does specifically mention that the frame of the vanilla vivo V23 is made of essence, which surely suggests that the one on the V23 Pro isn’t. There are other hints then and there as well, like looking into the casing around the Type-C harborage reveals a black material. The same goes around the SIM charger once ejected. Plus, the top bezel on the V23 Pro features a particular groove with a glass or plastic insert and some jotting on that. We can only assume it’s there purely for style, and accommodating it with a essence frame would have taken a lot of trouble.

Plastic or not, the center edge the two feels and looks incredible. It indeed pulls off a essence finish relatively successfully. We do have to note, however, that on our unit, the finish was bad on the SIM charger for some reason and indeed had some chips in the makeup.

Vivo actually went with Schott as its seller for defensive glass on the V23 Pro. You get Schott Xensation α glass on the front and Fluorite AG Glass on the aft panel. Schott might not be nearly as well- known as Corning in the space but is a relatively estimable source for defensive glass finish nevertheless. The Xensation α is actually its rearmost flagship product that indeed claims to compete Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus. It’s a step up from the Xensation Up used in the vanilla vivo V23 as well as the vivo X60 Pro and X70 Pro.

One unfortunate elision on the V23 Pro is any formal doorway protection standing. Not indeed the introductory IP53. There’s an egregious rubber gasket on the SIM charger, for what that is worth.

Controls

The vivo V23 Pro has a enough straightforward control scheme. You get a power button and a volume rocker on the right side as far as actual buttons. These are well deposited and easy to feel out of but are a bit mushy and do not offer nice tactile feedback. They’re still usable but could be a lot better.

The V23 Pro has an optic under- display point anthology. It’s relatively snappy and dependable. We’ve no complaints about it.

The left frame on the V23 Pro is fully empty, and the top frame just houses a single hole for the secondary microphone. It’s placed inside the plastic or glass insert on the top frame, which we mentioned before. It’s not an accentuation you see too frequently.

The bottom of the V23 Pro houses its binary Nano-SIM card niche. It lacks a microSD card niche, which is a bit of a bummer.

Speaking of bummers, there’s just a single bottom-firing speaker on the V23 Pro. No stereo setup, not indeed a mongrel one. There’s no3.5 mm audio jack moreover. And since we’re on the content-no FM radio or NFC moreover. The Type-C harborage is wired for USB2.0 data pets but does support OTG.

In case you were wondering, there’s no announcement LED on the V23 Pro, indeed though there’s plenitude of space in the double-wide selfie notch. That is kind of the anticipated situation with ultramodern phones, however. vivo still decided to fit a proper propinquity detector and a light detector nearly in there, both of which are appreciated as opposed to virtual druthers.

We do still like the way the earpiece is neatly hidden down above the selfie cameras and just has a bitsy little slit for sound to come through. Of course, we should not forget to mention the two binary- tone LED” firebugs”for selfies, also hidden down near the top leftism and right edges. These are unnoticeable while turned off as well.
