vivo V23 Pro Potent triple camera on the back and dual camera on the front review Part-5

Vivo has put vigorously in the camera office on the V23 Pro and V23. That much is apparent from the specs distance alosne. The V23 Pro, in particular, has a big 108MP, f/1.9, 26 mm,1/1.52″Samsung ISOCELL HM2 main camera. That is a potent setup that we have formerly seen in action, so vivo has no deficit of tackle at its disposal. Granted, there is no OIS then, nor fancy autofocus, just introductory PDAF. The V23 Pro is not a proper flagship, after all, so we can not exactly hold that against it.

There are two other cameras on the reverse of the V23 Pro. The 8MP f/2.2, 120- degree, 16 mm,1/4.0″,1.12 µm ultrawide uses an OmniVision OV8856 detector. It lacks autofocus.

And incipiently, there’s the 2MP, f/2.4, fixed- focus macro cam. It’s grounded on the OmniVision OV02B10 detector.

The V23 Pro really shines in the selfie department, however. Relatively literally, in fact, because it has a brace of binary- tone LED lights hidden down in the left and right top corners of the frame, above the display. Vivo calls them limelights, and the way they’re enforced is kind of clever. While selfie LEDs are rare enough in themselves, binary- tone bones are rarer still. Vivo has indeed gone one step beyond that by enforcing a three- stage slider for setting the factual color of the LEDs. This works by either having both LEDs inside each of the two” firebugs” be lit up at the same time, performing in a warm light blend, or turning off one of them for a colder or hotter light. We actually can not remember ever seeing this particular point anywhere differently.

The factual selfie camera tackle doesn’t fail moreover. The main camera is a 50MP unit with autofocus. As far as we managed to gather, it uses a special- order, customized detector, which vivo refers to as the”JNV”. It’s most probably grounded on Samsung’s ISOCELL S5KJN1, which would mean it has0.64 um pixels and a1/2.76″ optic format.

We surely know that at least some customization has been done on it. For case, vivo’s detector has the rearmost ISOCELL3.0 technology. Also, on the list of features for the main selfie-Eye Autofocus, which is likely grounded on the dereliction DoubleSuper-PD, as handed by Samsung. For videotape, this selfie can go up to4K@30fps and has a many situations of EIS, making it a truly important vlogging camera.

Last but not least, vivo felt it necessary to include an fresh 8MP, f/2.3 fixed- focus, 105- degree ultrawide selfie for group shots. It’s grounded on the HYNIX HI846 detector and isn’t as fancy as its stock.

The dereliction camera app is a largely familiar affair. There is, maybe, one major change, videlicet the apparent absence of a proper camera setting menu. Essentially we didn’t figure out how to see as one. All of the options are made accessible through colorfulsub-sections of the main UI.

There is a straightforward drone chooser which gives you direct access to each of the four cameras. Penetrating the Super Macro mode is done from the flower icon next to the hamburger menu, but it has an bus-on option too that kicks in when you get close to a subject.

The main modes are arranged in carousel conformation, and you can switch between them by swiping. The Further tab lists the rest of the modes, and from there, you can also customize the modes you have available in the viewfinder.

The Pro mode gives you all the freedom to acclimate the autofocus, white balance, shutter speed, ISO and exposure. You can do as such on every one of the four cameras as well. There is helpful information explaining all of the options above in case you’re just getting into photography. Firing in RAW is also an option.

The” Binary- Tone Limelight” point, as vivo calls its selfie LED lights, get their own separate menu when you switch over to selfie mode. Naturally, they’re agnostic and do not particularly watch if you’re shooting with the big selfie camera or the ultrawide. Color adaptation for the LEDs is controlled via a nifty three- stage slider.

Interestingly enough, vivo has also left in the option for a screen flash, called air lights, just in case the devoted LEDs were not enough? There are relatively a many other nifty toggles and controls to play around with then as well. The camera app is inversely smart for selfies when it comes to suggesting modes grounded on conditions. It’ll reluctantly prompt you to use night mode if it gets too dark.

Daylight image quality

Let’s protest effects off with the main 108MP camera. Since the Samsung ISOCELL HM2 detector uses a Nonapixel design, it’s meant to caddy pixels in groups of nine by dereliction, performing in 12MP stills. Overall, these prints look great. There’s plenitude of detail and enough dynamic range.

Vivo has stuck to its usual vibrant color wisdom. That will in general offer chances a certain moment”pop”, especially on a decent OLED show to appear to be legit. On the wise side, we can see how some might be put off by the increased achromatism. The V23 Pro frequently cranks up the stropping as well, occasionally indeed leaving some vestiges before. All of these shots were captured with the Ai scene discovery and HDR set to bus, just like they come out of the box.

Some of these aspects of the dereliction 12MP camera mode come indeed more egregious once you compare them side by side to some 108MP high-resolution prints from the V23 Pro. The phone can capture these, which is not indeed that slow.

Still, reading out and hitting that important data into storehouse is no trivial task, and you end up with roughly ten times bigger JPEG images in the end, around the 30 MB mark. This likely needed lower processing on vivo’s part, and it shows.

108MP stills look great and offer a palpable boost in detail. They also tend to have further natural colors and a generally less reused look.

Some may view that as” duller”in correlation, while for other people, it very well may be a” fix”for the abandonment look of the 12MP stills. Just be prepared to deal with the annoyingly big train sizes.

The vivo V23 Pro has no devoted blowup tackle, so drone shoots are purely digital and captured from the 108MP main camera. It surely has plenitude of resolution to go around. 2x prints look relatively similar to 1x bones and save utmost of the same quality and general look. These are surely usable.

Before we move on, then is how the vivo V23 Pro heaps up against the competition in our expansive print compare database.

The 8MP ultrawide camera produces nice prints too, with also boosted colors. The position of detail isn’t the same and there’s some over stropping going on, but it’s still okay.

Clamor is likewise a significant issue with this camera. Indeed in broad daylight, patches of sky and lawn tend to get really coarse.

The 2MP macro camera is nothing to telephone home about either. It has decent detail for its small resolution and gets the job done with enough tolerance.

Portrait photos

The V23 Pro has a portrayal mode complete with quite a many options, including some choices for the” shape”of the bokeh effect. Though, we do not suppose they made an perceptible difference in practice.

Portrayal shots look enough emotional. Subject disclosure and division are almost awesome, farther demonstrating that you don’t really require a gave” depth”camera to pull that off.

Pictures work unexpectedly well withnon-human subjects, too.

Selfie photos

The vivo V23 Pro is veritably well equipped on the selfie side of effects. Let’s start with the 50MP selfie cam since it’s the star magnet then. It captures stills at around12.5 MP by dereliction since it’s also meant to do 4-to-1 pixel binning. These shots look great.

The detail is extraordinary, as is the powerful reach. Colors look regular, and the foundation makes them please normal bokeh.

The V23 Pro has a toggle labeled” Bus HD portrayal”for selfies, which is on by dereliction. This originally set of shots was caught with it turned on. Then are the same shots with HD portrayal impaired. We can not really notice much of a difference.

The optional 8MP selfie camera is fair however sort of plain in examination. The position of detail is good, and its fixed focus aeroplane is fairly wide and forgiving. We surely like that it’s veritably wide, which kind of justifies its addition alongside the else superior 50MP unit.

Other than that, colors are a bit washed-out and duller, and the dynamic range is not relatively there. But, again, that is substantially because we compare it to the 50MP selfie cam. In insulation, this would be considered a solid, indeed if miserable, selfie experience.

Low-light photo quality

The main 108MP camera offers solid low-light performance. In its dereliction 12MP mode, it captures plenitude of detail and suppresses noise relatively well. Color achromatism is nice, and everything looks nice and sharp.

The V23 Pro has some form of automatic night mode, as substantiated by shots taking a bit longer to capture on occasion. There’s a devoted night mode beyond that as well, which extends prisoner times indeed further. It has a enough subtle effect on the main camera since, presumably, the automatic night mode is formerly doing at least some work.

Still, the Night mode photos are just a tad sharper and clearer.

At 2x drone low- light prints manage to maintain utmost of the good characteristics of their 1x counterparts. Everything is just a bit softer, and you can easily see the stropping algorithm working harder to restore some of the straight lines. These shots are still impeccably usable, however, as long as you do not zoom in farther than that.

Stills from the 8MP ultrawide look relatively okay. They’ve a nice dynamic range, and color achromatism is well saved too. The prints, still, are exorbitantly soft.

Night mode has a considerably more significant impact on ultrawide shots. It tends to cheer everything up and clear up images. Still, a near look reveals kindly heavier processing andover-sharpening in particular.

To wrap things up, we gave the selfie cameras a twist. As anticipated the bigger, autofocus-equipped 50MP camera performed beautifully in low-light conditions. The detail is there, and noise is virtually absent. Everything looks sharp, and the dynamic range is great, all effects considered.

The 8MP ultrawide held-up unexpectedly well in low-light as well. Naturally, you get noticeably softer and noisier shots each around, and you have to be careful to end up in focus, but it didn’t fail.

The really cool low-light party trick on the vivo V23 Pro, still, are the two binary-tone” limelights”near the top of the display. These work really well in illuminating a subject and can boost overall quality, simply thanks to a more invariant and stable light.

As for which of the three color settings you should choose for the binary-tone LEDs, it depends on the circumstance. On a particularly cold downtime night, we plant the warm setting the most aggregable. Also again, it’s worth noting that indeed the” air light” option, which uses white light from the display to illuminate selfies, works unexpectedly well.

Using the limelights, still, lets you confidently shoot selfies in nearly complete darkness. That is enough cool.

The limelights are a bit less emotional when used together with the 8MP ultrawide selfie but still offer some benefit.

The equivalent is valid for night mode on the selfie cams. It tends to destroy facial features more than anything differently, nearly as if there’s some aggressive beauty sludge enabled.

vivo V23 Pro Mobile phone Video capture quality

The vivo V23 Pro can capture videotape on a aggregate of four cameras-the on the reverse and two on the front. The big cameras on either side (108MP and 50MP) can record up to4K@30fps videotape. Both do that in a standard AVC videotape sluice at about 50 Mbps with stereo audio. The two ultrawides are limited at 1080p prisoner, with their bitrate swimming around a respectable 17 Mbps, also with stereo AAC audio.

4K vids from the main camera look great. Detail is aplenty, colors look good and they aren’t nearly as overprocessed as with stills. Processing then’s much more relaxed overall. Autofocus, while a bit slow at times, was solid with minimum stalking.

Then’s how the main camera on the vivo V23 Pro heaps up in terms of videotape quality. Pixel- glance down.

2x zoomed vids are a bit disappointing in comparison. The detail is there, which is extraordinary, yet for reasons unknown, vivo chose to oversharpen everything forcefully.

Vids from the ultrawide camera look relatively odd, actually, primarily due to the wide field of view. They’re a bit too soft as well. Other than that, detail isn’t too bad for 1080p and dynamic range is not all that bad moreover. Colors look solid, too.

The V23 Pro offers EIS on both the main and ultrawide cameras on the reverse. The main 108MP camera can be stabilized at 4K, which works enough well and takes care of utmost bigger shakes.

There’s a super stabilization mode beyond that as well. It only works on the main camera and caps the videotape at 1080p. It surely smooths out the videotape further, but it’s still not perfect. We will leave it up to you to decide whether that is worth the resolution downgrade and cropped-away erected of the videotape frame.

The ultrawide camera just has the introductory position of EIS. It does its job fairly well in terms of smoothing out shakes but does introduce a veritably weird deformation issue as well. Honestly, it’s too odd to indeed describe and not commodity we’d anticipate from a fixed- focus camera. You will just have to see it for yourself below.

Turning around to the selfie side of effects, 4K vids from the 50MP camera look stunning. Detail is astonishing, colors look incredible, powerful reach is additionally extraordinary. The autofocus works great as well, with virtually no stalking and affords you all of the freedom to move closer or further down from the camera.

Indeed with EIS turned off, the footage is impressively steady. Overall, the V23 Pro is a astral vlogging device, no question about it. It indeed offers some advanced camera modes to capture footage from two cameras at the same time and a lot of inflexibility in arranging the picture-in- picture UI.

You can add EIS to the selfie cam footage at the expenditure of some resolution since it only works at 1080p. It still looks enough good in practice, however. The sizeable knob of the frame that needs to be cut down for the EIS to work is a bit more delicate to accept, however. In any case, in the event that you really want it, it’s there.

Videotape from the ultrawide selfie is actually just weird each around. People look veritably skinny and altitudinous, and utmost other effects are distorted as well. We’d presumably just ignore it altogether. Then’s a quick sample alongside a sample from the ultrawide with EIS turned on.

Low-light video quality

The main 108MP camera on the V23 Pro captures excellent low-light videotape at over to4K@30fps. We’ve virtually no complaints.

The same can not exactly be said about the 8MP ultrawide. Its video pushed to the limit at 1080p, however the absence of goal is a long way from its greatest issue. The videotape is enough dark, and highlights are blown out and handled relatively inadequately. At least noise is well contained.
